The Private Sector is a
non-profit 501 (c) (3) public charity dedicated to responding to the needs of
the young, the old, the hungry, and the homeless. We believe that in
sharing our abundance with others, we realize our true wealth as a nation.
For nearly 30 years, the
mission of The Private Sector has been able to provide aid and housing for
low-income families and individuals. Thousands of people have already
benefitted from the food, shelter and support offered through the Sanctuary and food
programs which re-distributes surplus goods and puts them directly in the hands
of people of all ages who need it the most.
Natural resources are also dwindling and modern industrial
culture has impacted the environment negatively. Because of this reality, providing a more environmentally friendly shelter is a goal of The Private Sector. Having the houses used for the Sanctuary program be comfortable and more energy-efficient while using sustainable building and renovation methods including recycled
and renewable materials, alternative energy, and green technology is a significant part of the strategy to achieve that goal.
The Private
Sector seeks to serve the low-income elderly, who are challenged to provide for
themselves in dignity and comfort. The residences we use are multi-generational because the most gratifying
life includes relating with people of all ages.
